PTA Asked To Control Rising Mobile Phone ‘Bill Shock’ Complaints

Cellular Mobile Subscriber do not receive prior notification reaching balance/usage/time limit of subscribed packages, it applies to both voice service as well as to data service provided by telecom companies within pakistan. Therefore most of them getting shocked at the time of billing.

The purpose of the this consultation is to save the cellular mobile users from bill shock that they experience when a subscribed package is exhausted and the current system allows them to continue to use the data service both locally and voice service while on international roaming. Through this consultation process and with mutual decision of all relevant stakeholders, PTA desires that all Cellular Mobile Operators (COMs) shall implement a standard system whereby they shall inform the remaining credit in rupees or the remaining balance of  Data, Voice and SMS after every call, SMS and data usage.

All Operator are advised to send their replies within 30 days to all the question asked by PTA in the consultation paper.
